Never There 04:43
I'm the autumn, I'm dying The only light has blown and I'm alone Visions of my youth, picture me crying Always one to lower the tone Cos' you were never there When I needed most The seance of my nightmares and you're the host Dead as Alive The tide hits the coast Phantom of the future Past of my ghost Like a moth to a flame Letters dust the walls Writing to a soul that I never knew Waiting for your call Cos' you were never there When I needed most The seance of my nightmares and you're the host Dead as Alive The tide hits the coast Phantom of the future Past of my ghost Cos' you were never there When I needed most The seance of my nightmares and you're the host Dead as Alive The tide hits the coast Phantom of the future Past of my ghost of my ghost of my ghost of my

I'm A Pool that's no-one's getting in I'm sinking slowly and I can't swim The taste of the fear as I bite my tongue The bleach and the blood as it fills my lungs I woke the Lion from it's slumber I shook the cage and hid under you I watched it's teeth as it teared you apart Each piece I used to mend my broken heart So what then? What have I become (You made me what I am) A Shock then - No surprises now (From the lives you have stolen) What then - What Have I Become Forgetting what I never knew Gave up the way I felt about you The cracks in your eyes of porcelain Seeps the scars hidden behind your skin So what then? What have I become (You made me what I am) A Shock then - No surprises now (From the lives you have stolen) What then - What Have I Become And the screams of the sirens As the sun is dying out We were filled with so much doubt No way in and no way out And the darkness fills me now I'm not sure what i'd do without we're just building our own town AND WE'RE BURNING IT DOWN What have I become? What have I become?

I've done the washing 5 times today but this stain on my heart won't go away Never said a word of discontentment so how on earth do I stop this resentment? An emptiness that can't be filled with looks that have already killed Don't say you have to go a familiar look in her eye No point in wearing the disguise I try and tell myself You're not the one But that's like convincing the sky There's no sun Nightmares are dreams and dreams are real Please someone tell How not to feel You're like a light bursting out my chest Please someone lay my heart to rest As long as I'm with you I'm fine But alas I'm not living on Cloud nine I try and tell myself You're not the one But that's like convincing the sky There's no sun Nightmares are dreams and dreams are real Please someone tell How not to feel How to feel how to feel How to feel I try and tell myself You're not the one But that's like convincing the sky There's no sun Nightmares are dreams and dreams are real Please someone tell How not to feel I try and tell myself It's just a lie But that's like convincing a bird not to fly If you let me go I can be set free Please don't try to fly back to me

I'm not scared of you I'm not scared of trying Not to lose Myself in your lies And the world is so old as cold the night wanna hold you I see truth I see tears in your eyes I'll break through To black and white The silence kills Without a fight My bark and your bite A diamond rough, that was never enough turned to dust, then ground and crushed Hearts erased at single touch I am the name you cried too much My blood runs dry My head in two No sign of us No sign of you

about

Crafting music that nestles in your ear as easily as the propaganda of today’s popular culture, Siobhan’s latest release, Consumed By Chaos, is
a rip-roaring whirlwind. “I was absolutely knackered when writing the EP.
I think the ideology behind the Consumed By Chaos EP is that is literally what I was. The songs that were coming out were more erratic than my older stuff. So much was going on, and it naturally just happened.” For Siobhan, the EP represents a change in direction and an outlet that was needed for a while, for it wrote itself when the time was right. “Although chaos was around me, I finally had control.” she says. Having been crippled by writers block, the words started to pour out in a cathartic flood.
Recorded live and produced in Tiny Studios by Neil Segrott (previous work includes Tommy Emmanuel, Dean Friedman, Takamine Guitars and Lady Maisery), the EP reached new heights. Having worked with Neil previously at gigs, Siobhan was eager to have his expertise on the record. “The whole recording experience was totally different to anything I’d done before,” she starts, “Neil insisted we didn’t use any clicks, we just played and recorded. The beginning of ‘Never There’ is literally the bit where Les and I looked at each other and said “you ready?” and we went. 90% of my guitar you hear across the EP is the first take.”
Opener ‘Never There’, captures the piercing realisation that you can never really know somebody or their capability to walk away when you need them most. Whereas, ‘What Have I Become’ creeps with a haunting guitar line that cradles a tender vocal before reaching breaking point and roaring into a menacing guitar solo, ‘so what then, what have I become?’ she demands an answer, pleading for some sort of redemption. “I try and tell myself you’re not the one, but that’s like convincing a sky there’s no sun,” opens the chorus to ‘Recycled,’ a song where almost every line started out as a scribble tucked away in a black book of unfinished songs that were pieced together.

Embodying the values of the EP, it nods to Siobhan’s craftsmanship and ability to control chaos and sculpt
it into something beautiful. Sung
like a lullaby, ‘I’m Not Scared’ is a mesmerising piece that soars. Acting as the quiet rumble of the storm,
it’s as delicate as raindrops on a windowpane. Until it isn’t. The heavens open and the floodgates are torn apart, “no sign of us, no sign of you,” then silence. Much like the rest of the EP, Siobhan explains, “[I’m Not Scared] can be interpreted in many ways, but for me it’s about a kid standing up
for themselves and even though it is very fragile throughout, it explodes at the end.” Her tales pour from her guts and spill her heart, as she delves into depression, loss and absence, and heartbreak. The songs are honest and raw. They fill the emptiness, and warm the fire that you know burns inside.
